Brian Holmes had this to say...

It's not bad actually.

Georgia McCollum then added...

I first read this book when i was about 15, but since then i have read it at least twice more and intend to read it again!

The book follows a correspondence between two demons - uncle Screwtape and his nephew who has just been given his first human to derail and secure as a soul destined for hell. I found it interesting because of the way that it shows, from a demon's point of view, all the ways a human can be exploited to be kept from the kingdom of Heaven. It is set in the wake of World War II and plays on anxieties not only provoked by this, but by those of normal human existence.

I really enjoyed it as a fascinating and humorous approach to a subject which is usually tackled in a very heavy fashion, but it still causes you to look at your own accesibilty to persuasion away from God.

Highly recommended, especially if some of Lewis' other devotional works seem a little heavy.
